The truth is, most filament labeled as 3.0 mm is actually <em>closer</em> to 2.85 mm in diameter - with very rare exceptions. 3D Universe filament is <em>truly</em> 2.85 mm in diameter, with a tolerance of +/- .08 mm. Therefore, it works exceptionally well in <a href=https://shop3duniverse.com/collections/3d-printer-filament/products/"/collections/ultimaker-3d-printers">Ultimaker printers, as well as printers that require 3 mm filament, such as the <a href=https://shop3duniverse.com/collections/3d-printer-filament/products/"/collections/lulzbot-3d-printers">LulzBot TAZ or Mini</a>. Simply configure your slicing software for a filament diameter of 2.85 mm and you can expect optimal results.</span></p>

Introducing 3D Universe PLA Filament
At 3D Universe, we are now offering a new, high-end 3D printing PLA filament. The complete filament line is available in an assortment of 27 different colors. We've had this in the works for a while, now, so we're very excited - to say the least!
Safe, Earth-Friendly 3D Printing
3D Universe PLA is made from Polylactic Acid, a plant-based thermoplastic which is 100% biodegradable. While not food safe, it is non-toxic. For most people that are new to 3D Printing, it's highly recommended to start printing with PLA before moving on to more exotic materials.
High Standards of Quality
Having close to 30 years of experience manufacturing a very diverse array of plastics, our manufacturer has the process knowledge required to produce high-end filaments. Our PLA has a diameter tolerance of +/- 0.08 mm, which ensures a consistent flow rate. The filament is tightly wound to guard against tangling and each spool is shipped in air-tight packaging to shield against the elements.

Because our filament is manufactured in the United States, our actual costs are significantly lower. The quality level is exceptionally close to that of European-imported filaments, but far more cost-effective.
